"deep thoughts" by kerry guice

i love spring. i love being able to have all my windows open at home while i cook dinner or read a magazine, and i LOVE my neighborhood because there are birds ALL over the place and their singing and chirping along with the fresh air is just so relaxing and soothing. i think the reason we all love spring and fall so much is that it's just a big breath of relief from the extremety of winter and summer. and our neighborhood is brimming with dogwoods, redbuds, azaleas, and wildflowers as far as the eye can see! it's a great place to enjoy this time of year.

our office is really starting to show signs of life now! i knew it would take a little while, and we're by no means busy for the entire 9 hours we're open, but we are starting to have a "steadiness" that we've been eagerly awaiting. :) we're glad to see it! i think we've done really well with our choices of advertisements, because every time an ad has gone out, we've immediately seen results, so i'm hopeful that we're targeting the right market!

we're still doing quite well working together, despite the fact that this month of my pregnancy has become an emotional roller coaster/nightmare (for both me AND brian!). it's been interesting to experience pregnancy so far. months 3 and 4 were what i like to call "a holy terror" due to morning sickness and pure exhaustion, and month 6 is the "hormonal nightmare." i SERIOUSLY cry like a baby once a day (wait, i didn't today... knock on wood). i'm not talking "tears welling up in my eyes," either, folks, i'm talkin' breath-into-a-paper-bag-so-i-don't-pass-out cry. :) and for reasons my mind has to quickly come up with after it's already started so my husband doesn't think i've officially gone off the deep end. :) i've been a sight to see, that's for sure.

violet hit a growth spurt last week- i no longer fit into my "fat pants," not even with the help of the beloved bella band (a stretchy tube you wear over your unbottoned pants to keep them on so you don't have to buy 4 different sizes of maternity clothes- it's been a lifesaver). i've even already outgrown my first 2 maternity pants! she's slowed down this week, but it was quite a noticeable week last week. i feel like i wasn't gaining as much as other women so far, but i'm catching up! :) as of my last appt, i'd gained 6 lbs, so it'll be interesting this coming tuesday at my next appt. to see where i am now. i was getting ready for work the other day, fresh out of the shower, brushing my teeth, and my loving husband looked over and said, "WOW you're huge!" with a big grin on his face. he is ABSOLUTELY loving being able to get away with talking about my weight without the threat of me murdering him. :) for once in my life, i'm supposed to be big, and he gets QUITE a kick out of his newly found free reign... don't worry, though, i warned him that the MILISECOND she comes out, that freedom ENDS. :)

violet's nursery is coming along nicely. last sunday i spent half the day on little projects- i spray painted a little angel holding a "v" (it was gold, i made it pink), i spray painted some beautiful pink lanterns that my mom got me (the metal was black- i made it white), i started my art project for the walls- i used rumi's poetry from a book i had, and tried to find poems about spring and/or love, then watercolor painted the sheets purple, then printed out sheet music on colored cardstock and cut them out as petals, and placed them on the sheets. i'll put them in 5x7 white frames, but i'm not quite sure yet where i'll put them on the walls. also, while in arizona on kristie's birthday, we went antique shopping, and i found a PERFECT little green wooden baby chair. i bought it and kept it at allison's house, and my parents were able to bring it home for me back from their trip over there last weekend. i don't know where i'll put it yet, but i LOVE LOVE LOVE it! it's too old for a child to actually sit in, so it'll be a great stuffed animal holder. :) i'm going to comission my mom to make a little seat cushion out of the bedding material. i can't wait to have the nursery done! i've made a list of things to do, so every weekend i'll get a little more done. i absolutely love decorating. if everyone had my style, i'd be a GREAT interior designer! hahah! otherwise, i'd have a lot of angry customers if they requested anything different. :) but, although the rest of our house is fairly modern, i've done her room in a more "country french garden" type of vibe, while hoping to keep the "clean, simple, soothing" aspect to match the rest of the house (at least that's what i'm going for).

here are new pictures of her room and my little projects. keep in mind it's going to look MUCH different when it's finished! it's a mess in there now! okay, we're going to sleep now. good night!

I love your posts!!! I liked the part where you have to come up with a reason you are crying AFTER you started crying :)That chair looks great with the little monkey in it.You are a great designer.

Love,
Dad

yeah, I remember those good ole' hormone days during pregnancy. You're wondering what gremlin took control over your emotions and had a heyday. It's too weird crying and not even having a logical cause, so you make one up just 'cause it's too bizzare to be crying for no reason. I'm going to be doing paperwork like a Stevador, as Nana would say, so I can get going on sewing Violet's things. I'm sorry to hold things up. Love you! Can't wait to see that little Violet!
