my weekend

okay, it's already 11pm, but i'm in "the zone" from editing photos, so i might as well post a blog about my eventful weekend before i hit my pillow...

friday night i was going to meet 2 of my memphis girlfriends at ruth's chris because i was going to be there anyway for the wedding saturday morning. well, i get to the restaurant, and the hostess takes me to this big table with all my friends and coworkers waiting for me with a big basket of presents in the middle of the table and baby balloons!!! it was my first baby shower- a surprise baby shower! i had so much fun. it was so nice of kim to organize it all for me. :) i miss all my friends in memphis- i had such a great time with them. it was a pretty "unconventional" baby shower- which i loved. there were guys all there, getting hammered and saying things like "man, baby showers are COOL!" hahah! craig, the gm, even made a shower game up. he was giving me a hard time about the name violet, so he decided we'd play a game where everyone writes what she SHOULD be named on a piece of paper. :) it was hilarious the names i ended up with! "lightning" was among my favorites. maybe i'll keep that as a middle name... hahaah! our bill was pretty hefty, and craig took care of it! i felt so pampered and loved. :) it was a great start to the weekend...

the wedding saturday was a lot of fun. i was practically (literally) limping
to my car at the end of the night (THIRTEEN hours in heels, on my feet shooting 1,200 pictures. yes, i said 1,200), but the bride was SO nice and the family was
really cool. it is seriously so incredibly rewarding to get paid to document
such a wonderful day for people. it feels like i get to know them
pretty quickly in that kind of setting. everyone's relaxed and having
fun and happy. just to give you a little explanation of how nice the
bride is: when i first met them at the salon at 11am, she greeted me
with a beautifully wrapped present (in her wedding colors, of
course!), and said it was an early mother's day present. i guess in
our emails back and forth i'd mentioned violet's name to her, and she
took note. inside the box was 2 onesies- one embroidered with
violet's name on it, and one with her initials!!! and i don't even
know this girl! how sweet is that? and then she had box lunches made
up for her bridesmaids, me and the salon staff, wrapped in cute lunch
boxes of her wedding colors, with homemade chicken salad croissants
and little fruit cups topped with mint, and little wedding cake shaped
cookies with their monogram on it- in their wedding colors... sheesh!
this girl is organized!!! it was a really fun (but looooong) day.

on to the photo montage... :)
the first ones of them together- where it starts with her in the
background and him smiling at me, is when they first see each other
that day- before the ceremony. he hasn't turned around yet, so it's
the moment RIGHT before he turns around. i love my job!! i teared up
when he turned around. it was great to photograph their "moment" that
day. i now think that's better than seeing each other for the
first time with the bride going down the aisle, because you get to be
alone and have it be really intimate and special. i was the only one
lucky enough to be able to witness it. :) you can't be in a bad mood
when that's what you get paid to do!! hahah! i wish brian and i would've planned it like that- instead i just got out of the car like, "what, i'm in a white princess dress. so?" :)

the parasols were an afterthought- she saw them a week before the
wedding and thought maybe they'd be fun, and then some freak accident
happened and the flowers were delivered half rotten! she started to
freak out, but when i showed her some of the pics with the parasols,
we decided those were cooler than bouquets anyway. :) her mom and
aunt quickly went to the store and make-shifted some new bouquets for
the ceremony. i honestly think the parasols were better! such fun
pictures!!

i haven't made a dent in these pictures, but i'm excited about how they're turning out so i'm posting some anyway.

this saturday was brian and my FIVE YEAR WEDDING ANNIVERSARY!!! i hated to be away, but we need the money! we'll go on a special weekend trip soon. brian and i met mom and dad at fiji in conway for mother's day on sunday, and got sweet mother's day cards from them all. :) it was a great first mother's day!!!! :) i can't wait to have cute mom's day stories like kristie just had!! :)

enjoy the pictures:
