what is cinco de mayo anyway? i forget. all i know is that it's our friend amy's birthday, so we always celebrate today! :)
well, i had my soiree photo shoot yesterday! i guess i'm just used to a more natural makeup look, because i felt like i was at a glamour shots studio! :) my hair had more body than i do right now... hahah! it went well, and i think they'll look good. the photographer, jason masters, is SUCH an awesome photographer, so i'm excited to have been able to work with him! i was pretty nervous on my way there, but it was a good time. i'll post the photos when i get them back. i filled out the interview form for the issue, and i think i sound like a goon, but hopefully not more so than anyone else will. :)
i had a good dr. appt. last thursday. i'm waiting to hear back about my gestational diabetes test, but i think i'm in the clear. her heartbeat is getting louder and stronger! it's funny, i knew we had a "growth spurt" this past month, but i didn't realize how much! at 6 months pregnant, i was at a 6lb. gain overall. when she weighed me i asked how much i'd gained and she said "nine lbs." i said "only 3 lbs. this month? i feel like it's more than that." she said, "oh, honey, i mean 9 lbs. THIS month. you've gained 15 overall." sheesh!! i'd call that a growth spurt!! :) i'll be 7 months this friday.
i have a wedding in memphis this weekend. i always get really nervous the week before a wedding. it'll be nice, though, because i'll be getting into town friday night, so i'm going to be able to have dinner at ruth's chris with my memphis friends! i'm really excited to see them, and to show off my bowling ball. :) the OTHER important thing about this weekend is that it's brian and my FIVE YEAR WEDDING ANNIVERSARY!!! :) i can't believe it's already been 5 years! we've been together for a little over 8 years. man, time flies when you're in love! :) it's been a great time so far, and i look forward to spending the rest of my life as not only his wife, but his partner as parent to violet. :) if we think we've had an adventurous life so far, we're in for it!! :) haha. i wish that brian could come with me to this wedding because i've got a pretty nice hotel room and we could've gone out friday night or done something fun in memphis on sunday, but we're going to do something fun next weekend, after the cycle for sight race on sat. morning.
so after talking about it, and thinking about the housing market the way it is, and how there is an $8,000 tax credit for home-buyers, we've decided to buy a house by september or october this year. we've started shopping around, and there are pretty good deals out there right now! it's just stupid for us to throw our money away on rent like we're doing when we can get something halfway decent, stay in it for 5 years or so, fix it up a little bit (we don't want a HUGE fixer-upper, just something that needs a little updating), and hopefully by then 2 things will have happened: 1)the market will have gone back up and we will have made a lot more money, and 2)the practice will be doing well enough for us to be able to afford a nicer, more "permanent" home. wish us luck in being able to get a loan! eeek! the timing needs to be just right. the tax credit is only applicable if you get in a house before dec. 1st, but we want to wait for as much business growth as we can to get a good loan, so we're nervous about that part of it! we're excited, though, about getting a house- i'm sure we'll be needing some help moving with a 1 or 2 month old, so any of you who'd like to offer your muscles, we'll take it! :)
i'm a worried mama today- brian just dropped emma off to have surgery. :( we pick her up at 5:30. she has a cyst on her neck that she's had for over 2 years now (her last vet just said it was scar tissue and nothing to worry about), but it started oozing a few weeks ago, so we took her in to the vet here, and she said it was a cyst, and nothing to really worry about, but it is prone to infection when it opens like that, and it's right on her neck, so we decided to get it cut out. she's been on antibiotics and today she went in to get it removed. i know it'll probably go well, but i'm worried about my baby!!!
well, i think this may be the first post without any pictures, but i'm at the office and don't have any cool new ones for you... i'll post some of my favorites from this weekend's wedding when i get back.
